Valopaa Brings in New Generation LEDs
Valopaa luminaires remain competitive, since we design and manufacture the LED circuit boards ourselves. We keep a keen eye on the development of LED technology and whenever components with improved features appear, we strive to implement these new LEDs without delay. Now we have moved into a new generation of LEDs, with improvements not only in white LED luminous efficiency, but colour consistency and rendering as well.
Valopaa currently uses Philips Lumileds Luxeon Z ES LEDs. The new LEDs enable an increase in colour rendering index (CRI) to 70 and luminous efficiency is boosted by 5-10 %, depending on the lens and model of the luminaire.
The colour temperature of white Luxeon Z ES LEDs has a range of 2700 K – 5700 K. Colour rendering is at least 70, up to 90 for warmer tones. The 15 % increase in luminous intensity of the Luxeon Z ES LEDs is optimised through improved colour rendering, simultaneously maintaining a high luminous intensity.
Enhanced production processes have also improved colour consistency. Even 1-step colour space within the MacAdam ellipse colour definition* is available for Luxeon Z ES LEDs, and all colour temperatures for the chosen LEDs fit within the 5-step MacAdam ellipse.
Colour consistency is important in environments, which require even lighting of uniform quality. This enables renewals of luminaires and expansions without concerns for altering the quality of the lighting.
